About the Centre

A public institution dedicated to remembrance culture, education and responsible dialogue.

The Centre for the Promotion of Tolerance and Holocaust Remembrance was founded in 2017 on the initiative of Branko Lustig, two-time Academy Award winner and Holocaust survivor, and Nataša Popović, founder and director of the Festival of Tolerance - JFF Zagreb. The Centre brings together remembrance work, education, art, public space and international cooperation.

Institutional Profile

A place of knowledge, remembrance and public responsibility.

The Centre's work begins with the memory of the Holocaust and the dignity of its victims, while speaking directly to contemporary society: schools, young people, professionals, cultural institutions, partners and citizens. Its programmes foster historical understanding, critical thinking and a considered public conversation on tolerance, human rights, diversity and responsibility towards the shared public sphere.

The Centre operates as a cultural and educational institution that connects research, art, education, public dialogue and community work. Its significance lies not only in individual events, but in a sustained programme framework that turns remembrance into learning, and learning into an active relationship with society.

Programme Areas

The Centre's programmes use different forms, but share one mission: to remember, to learn and to connect.

Remembrance Culture

Memorial programmes, Stolpersteine and commemorative activities return names, biographies and dignity to public space.

Education

Seminars, workshops, handbooks and international projects develop knowledge of the Holocaust, antisemitism, exclusion, human rights and democratic responsibility.

Art and Culture

The Centre's artistic programmes include Brundibar, concerts, exhibitions and public interventions, including the 2D hologram on the revitalisation of Uljara installed on the building fence.

Public Dialogue

Public talks, conversations and POP UP programmes open spaces for reflecting on culture, language, heritage, violence, belonging and contemporary social questions.

International Cooperation

Projects such as TARGET connect the Centre with European partners, while the Stolpersteine programme is developed in cooperation with Stiftung - Spuren as part of wider European memorial practice.
